Solid off tee, fluent on greens; omens are good for Arjun Sharma

Arjun Sharrma is off to another solid start on the PGTI. He opened the Players Championship in Panchkula with a 4-under 68 to be three off the lead.

Arjun Sharma came close in August, but he is yet to put together four rounds that will give him his breakthrough on the Professional Golf Tour of India. Arjun attributes it to “spoiling one round due to silly mistakes”.

Rather than dwelling on the frustration of falling short in Coimbatore, Arjun is certain a win is round the corner. Since that close call at the Players Championship, he has contended regularly through tournament weeks; just that it hasn’t reflected enough on the final leaderboard.

The drive of late comes from the belief that “I belong atop the leaderboard”. This week too has started in the same vein with Arjun shooting a near flawless 68 to be three off the lead in Panchkula.

It’s a combination at work when the 29-year-old is in flow, solid start off the tee and backed by some work on the greens. The omens are good that this will be the week that announces his arrival on the big stage.
