Tied for the lead after 36 holes, Manu Gandas is certain nothing will change, as always, over the next two days at the Chennai Open. Not even the flawless 7-under 65 can prompt the young athlete to step on the gas and attempt a breakaway.
Manu stands tempered, and this has happened over time. In fact, from the days when he was attempting to break through on the Professional Golf Tour of India. The barren run rankled at times but it also made him realize that falling short was a result of “pushing too hard and not following the process diligently”.

“I backed down and let the process and time take its course,” said Manu, while starting work on the shortcomings. It was about getting better with the iron play.

He had to persevere but the results have come. Since September last, when he first won in Hyderabad, Manu has posted two more in a solid 2022 season, and looks good at the TNGF Cosmo Golf Course.
But there is no getting ahead. “It’s will be the same golf course, same me and my clubs. As long as I can be myself, the rest doesn’t matter.”
