For Ajeetesh Sandhu, two shots off the lead going into Sunday at the Delhi Golf Club, if Friday was “slow and painful”, it was “nervy and tough on Saturday.

What stood by him was the faith in the process and the hours spent at practice perfecting it. With the conditions showing little signs of relenting — the wind or course, faith will be Ajeetesh’s biggest ally as he bids for his second Asian Tour title.

The last time he found himself in a similar position was at the Mercuries Taiwan Masters in 2019.

Ajeetesh was tied for the lead after the penultimate round and settled a rung below.

Lessons would have been picked up and will be put to use at a venue which has some fond memories.
