They finished T11 in their debut appearance as a team in 2021.

Cantlay, the 2021 FedExCup Champion and PGA TOUR Player of the Year, seeks his seventh PGA TOUR win; last victory came at the 2021 TOUR Championship. Schauffele’s most recent of four TOUR titles came at the 2019 Sentry Tournament of Champions.
South Africans Branden Grace and Garrick Higgo (2nd/-24) seek to join Gary Player (1972) and David Frost (1990) as South African winners of the Zurich Classic.

Two-time event winner Billy Horschel and Louisiana native Sam Burns (T3/-23) combined for 10 birdies and one bogey for a 9-under 63. Horschel is the only player to win the Zurich Classic in both the individual (2013) and team format (with Scott Piercy in 2018).
Australian team Jason Day and Jason Scrivener (T3/-23) seek to join 11 players from outside the United States to win the Zurich Classic since 2000 (most recent: Marc Leishman and Cameron Smith/2021).

PGA TOUR rookies Aaron Rai and David Lipsky (T3/-23) are in search of their first career wins on the PGA TOUR. Since 1970, the Zurich Classic has had 19 players capture their first PGA TOUR title at the event, the second-most first-time TOUR winners of any active event in that span (most: 23/John Deere Classic).
Defending champions Marc Leishman and Cameron Smith sit T19 at 17-under; Smith became the first player to win the event twice in the team format (2017/Jonas Blixt, 2021/Leishman).
