With its immaculate fairways and pristine greens, the Lodhi Course of the Delhi Golf Club (DGC) is a pretty sight no doubt, but is a daunting challenge as well.
Why this iconic course is often termed a golfer’s stern test and is prone to giving sleepless nights was on show on Day 1 of the NCR Cup, 6th Junior Golf Tournament, organised by the Delhi Golf Society.

Noida lad Vinamra Anand was the lone name in the impressive turnout on Wednesday to register a sub-par 70, which handed him the top honours among ‘A’ Boys. The lanky Zoravar Singh Star, a first year college student from Jalandhar, shot an impressive level-par 72 to settle for lone second. Yash Chaudhary, a product of DGC’s Camp of Excellence, shot a 74 for third.
Keya Badagu had the best card of 81 in ‘A’ Girls, and leads by a stroke over Mannat Brar and Kashika Misra at 82.
Dewan Kabir Nath was the best name on display in ‘B’ Boys with a one-over 73. He has a three-shot cushion over Uday Aditya Middha (76), who in turn leads by three over Vedant Banerjee (79).
Shrestha Shukla announced her intention to capture the ‘B’ Girls title by opening up a five-shot lead with a 5-over 77 on the opening day. Prarthana Khanna (82) and Alysha Dutt (84) are next in line.
On Thursday, the Peacock Course will witness action when competition in Categories ‘C’, ‘D’ and ‘E’ gets rolling.
