In her rookie season, Agrima Manral would be in the hope that she is destined for glory on the golf course.

Time will tell, but she got a sample of what it could be with a flash of brilliance on the biggest stage.

Agrima’s first outing at the Hero Women’s Indian Open is what dreams are made of. For a better part of her front-nine, the 18-year-old was sole second at two-under, but more important was the pride of place on the leaderboard.

The ball striking and putting was surreal, so was the feeling, and though she slipped, probably the enormity of the occasion was overawing, Agrima would have picked up many valuable lessons going forward.

Of course, she makes it a point to mention the solid support system that has allowed her to chase her dreams on the Ladies European Tour, but the mix of missing home and a not-so great season hasn’t been easy on the four-time winner on Tour.

Linda hopes her recent luck, or lack of it, on the greens, that’s where she has floundered of late, maybe changing as she took the lead on Day 1.

The DLF Golf and Country Club is not known to be a kind place, but Linda has relied on her memories to build a base this week.

A round of 6-under and T4 finish, Linda will be drawing heavily from the past and Thursday’s opening to surge further ahead.
