Yuvraj Singh Sandhu is back at the venue and tournament where it all began for him.

The IndianOil Servo Masters may have been his first and only win of 2021 after knocking on the door several times, but perhaps even unknown to Yuvraj then, the week at the picturesque Digboi Golf Links set him up for a superlative 2022 season.

Four wins thus far, and counting, and Saturday could well be Win No 5 this season on PGTI as Yuvraj shot a 9-under 63 to take the lead on Day 1.

How missed cut in Hyderabad could work for Rohan Dhole Patil in Digboi

Rohan Dhole Patil’s fluent start to the IndianOil Servo Masters (5-under 67 and four shots off the lead) rests on a week of learning. The rookie pro missed cut at the Telengana Golconda Masters last week, but the two days of practice in Hyderabad, watching the action from the sidelines and reflecting with coach Aditya Kanitkar led Rohan to realize where he was falling short.

It was on and around the greens. “Since turning pro, the focus has been on ball striking,” said Rohan. While he has this area covered nicely, the short game was the letdown due to months of relative neglect. It reflects in his season’s stats too with just a sole top-10 in Bangladesh earlier in the year.

Realisation could have dawned earlier, but this is what experience brings to the table.

Readings from the past week have also led to another positive with his scoring on the par-5s too improving at the Digboi Golf Links on Day 1.
