Dinesh Karthik gets an exciting assignment in The Hundred

Kolkata Knight Riders veteran Dinesh Karthik is all set for a new role in The Hundred. With the Indian Premier League suspended indefinitely, the wicketkeeper-batsman has got a job to perform in the England and Wales Cricket Board’s ambitious professional venture.

ECB’s 100-ball a side league had failed to take off last year due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.

As the league is all set to start this year, the former India stumper has been signed for the role of television commentator.

Yes. Karthik has been listed in the star-studded commentary panel by The Hundred host broadcaster Sky Sports. He will be sharing the commentary box with the likes of Andrew Flintoff, Stuart Broad, Kevin Pietersen, Kumar Sangakkara in the commentary panel.

The Hundred is slated to start from July 21. Since there is no window possible for the remaining 31 matches of the IPL before September, ECB’s mega event comes as a dream opportunity for Karthik.

Kass Naidoo, Zainab Abbas and Jacqueline Shepherd have been named as presenters for the LIVE Broadcast.

Karthik, Stuart Broad, Pietersen, Tammy Beaumont, Daren Sammy, Mel Jones, Wasim Akram, Lydia Greenway and Sangakkara will be among the who is who to grace the commentary box.

The Sky Sports coverage of The Hundred will include the build-up, live action and post-match analysis, with all the action, drama and entertainment live from cricket grounds across the UK.

The Hundred will feature 61 matches in the 100-ball-a-side format. All women’s matches and a significant number of men’s games will also be streamed live on the Sky Cricket YouTube channel.

Sky regulars Nasser Hussain, Ebony Rainford-Brent, Rob Key, Ian Ward, David Lloyd, Nick Knight, Mike Atherton and Mark Butcher will spearhead the commentary panel.
