The FIFA Council has confirmed that India will host the FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup in October 22. The decision was confirmed by the FIFA Council today (Thursday).
The tournament, which was to be held in India last year, was deferred by a year and then eventually cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The world governing body for football had then named India as the host for the 2022 edition of the tournament. The decision was ratified and announced by the Council.
The tournament has been scheduled from October 11 to 30.
The Council, which met by video conference, also approved dates for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Costa Rica 2022 (10-28 August 2022), as well as a 14-team play-off for the FIFA Arab Cup 2021™, taking place between 19 and 25 June this year.
In addition, the Council has approved the establishment of respective FIFA subsidiaries to manage the organisation of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 in Australia and New Zealand and the FIFA World Cup 2026 in Canada, Mexico and the USA.
