This one almost did not happen, but there was no way we could have let go of this opportunity. It was a week of firsts for Rahil Gangjee. In six starts on the Japan Golf Tour, the T11 on Sunday at the Golf Partner Pro-Am Tournament is his best and through it Rahil shot under-par on all four days for a total of 263 (65, 67, 66, 65).
It was a long day at the Toride Kokusai Golf Club — the strain of a full day at work for Rahil and then watching Tour buddies Shaun Norris and Scott Vincent battle in a three-way playoff. Golf isn’t just about shooting low scores and collecting trophies;

it also about striking bonds for life. Shaun’s caddie and younger brother was indisposed, and going into the playoff would have meant pushing the electric cart. Rahil stepped in and offered the services of his caddie Raghu and that somewhere played a part in the win as well.
In the midst of the frenetic action, Rahil Gangjee got no time to charge his phone and when we were planning to go live the battery was about to die. There was no time to choose an ideal location, it had to be done where players disengage after the round, the locker room.
This was a first as well, and luckily we got a glimpse of a myriad of emotions. A disappointed Scott picking himself up and the triumphant Shaun making an entry to a noisy welcome. Rahil’s phone held through all this and his prediction that Brooks Koepka would walk away with the giant PGA Championship trophy. That bit did not come true but apart from that he ticked quite a few boxes.
