As always, the picturesque par-72 Classic Golf and Country Club in Nuh (Haryana) brings the best out of contestants, and Event 5 of the Indian Golf Union’s North Zone Amateur Feeder Tour, organised by Ace Golf, saw keen action over two days this week.
Age was no barrier as a seasoned golfer like Raju Vijayvargiya and the young Chaitanya Pandey, a prolific name on the junior circuit, stepped up to figure prominently on the leaderboard in the men’s category.
With rounds of 76 and 74 (150), Vijay tied for third with another emerging name Om Paldhikar, who also shot identical numbers, to prove the importance of experience in the sport.
The winner in the men’s category was Raajveer Singh Dhillon, who recovered from the opening day’s 75 to shoot a 3-under 69 to total 144 for a two-shot win Yash Chaudhary 146 (71, 75).
Chaitanya 151 (76, 75) finished in a tie for the fifth spot with Devin Singh (76, 75).
Among the ladies, Shiksha Jain, Sarah Solanki and Avni Atreya made the podium as the top names.
With a two-day total of 141 (67, 74), Shiksha could not maintain her under-par record, but won nonetheless by a whopping nine shot over Sarah 150 (74, 76). Avni finished three shots adrift of Sarah at 153 (79, 74).
Jia Kochhar (155) was sole fourth, and was followed by Aaliya Bairoliya and Ishita, both finishing at 156 to be in a tied for fifth.
More action is in store later this month as the IGU NZ Amateur Feeder Store travels to another challenging venue in the NCR.
