AEPTA Meerut is a well-kept secret. Unknown to many, the facility offers top-notch conditions, which is a critical component for quality competition. A drive through the entrance to the pristine golf course gives a lot of insight, and among the factors that come to light is that the tight fairways are a stern test of skill.

Proof lay in the scores at Event 9 of the Indian Golf Union’s North Zone Amateur and Sub-Junior/Junior Feeder Tour, organised by Ace Golf, over the weekend.
Opening with a level-par card, Raunik Kharkwal took a tumble in the second round. He closed with a 4-over 76 but still etched a three-shot win at 148. Finishing with an identical 151, Karan Mehto (79, 72) and Mayank Oberoi (75, 76), tied for second, but Karan finished ahead on account of a better Day 2 card.
In A Boys, Vivaan Monga was the top name with rounds of 79 and 83 for a final tally of 162, three shots better than Anay Bhattacharya (86, 79). Adishwar S Chahal was a shot back at 166 (88, 78).
Category A and B Girls attracted a limited field, and Parisa Monga 176 (87, 89), Aarohi Attri 185 (92, 93) and Aaditri Jain 190 (92, 98) were the top names.
Sakshity Pureandre maintained his trophy run by claiming the top spot in B Boys with a two-day total of 157 (77, 80) for a four-shot win over Ayush Gupta (84, 77). At 164, Rao Vardhan finished third with scores of 80, 84.
In C Boys, Aadyot Gupta shot 162 over two days (82, 80) to eke out a close two-shot win over Udayveer Singh Gill (82, 82). Digvijay Singh was third at 167 (82, 85).
Deepika Tomar (171) and Divija Rao (181) claimed the podium in C Girls.
Samar Baijal stood out with the tournament’s only sub-par round, a 6-under 66, and though he slipped with a 73 the next day, he had done enough to seal the top spot in D Boys with a seven-shot win at 139 over Shan Alvi 146 (74, 72). Drona Singh Dhull was next at 150 with rounds of 75.

D Girls was a relatively close affair with a couple of shots separating Aaradhya Rawat (155) and Unnati Singh (157).
Competing over 18 holes across two days, Gitansh Singh Pathania notched scores of 40 and 37 to total 77, which gave him a five-shot cushion over Bhavya Rattan (45, 37). Leyan Pal was third at 86.
Aadya Dayal (81), Dhriti Singh (82) and Suhani Chandra (84) completed the podium in E Girls.
More than the scores, it was the tiny tots’ appetite for competition that stood out in Category F. Among boys, Aprateem (96), Lakshit Deswal (100) and Kairav Gupta (109) were the top names, while in girls, it was Manasvi Kanwar (74), Muskan Chaudhary (83) and Anveshikha (104).
