PGA Tour season all but over but no stopping Scottie Scheffler

Scottie Scheffler bettered his winning score from 2023 by five strokes and was one stroke shy of tying the 72-hole Hero World Challenge record set by Jordan Spieth in 2014 (262/-26).

Scottie Scheffler‘s (1st/-25) final-round 63 earned him a a 6-stroke victory over Tom Kim at the Hero World Challenge, successfully defending the title he won in 2023.

Joins Tiger Woods (2006, 2007) and Viktor Hovland (2021, 2022) as the only back-to-back winners of the Hero World Challenge; successfully defended two titles on the PGA Tour: WM Phoenix Open/2022 and 2023, The Players/2023 and 2024.

Joined Tiger Woods (5), Davis Love III (2), Graeme McDowell (2) and Viktor Hovland (2) as multiple winners of the Hero World Challenge.

Bettered his winning score from 2023 by five strokes and was one stroke shy of tying the 72-hole tournament record set by Jordan Spieth in 2014 (262/-26).

His 36-hole total of 131 (-13) marked the best at Albany Golf Club since becoming the host venue in 2014.

His final-round 63 marked his low score in 16 rounds at Albany Golf Club; has never shot an over-par 18-hole score at the Hero World Challenge.

Made his fourth appearance at Hero World Challenge (Won/2024, Won/2023, 2nd/2022, 2nd/2021).

The most recent of 13 PGA Tour wins was the 2024 TOUR Championship.

Scheffler is a nominee for the Jack Nicklaus Award as PGA Tour Player of the Year; seeks to become the first player to win PGA Tour Player of the Year honours in three consecutive years since Tiger Woods (2005-2007).

The 2024 FedExCup champion and World No. 1 claimed seven PGA Tour titles in 2024 and the Olympic gold medal.

With 27 birdies, Tom Kim (2nd/-19) tied Scheffler for the most birdies made this week, including the 12 he made in a third-round 10-under 62 which marked the lowest third-round score in tournament history; now owns two top-10s in as many appearances at the Hero World Challenge (2nd/2024, T10/2022).

Justin Thomas (3rd/-18) now owns top-five finishes in his five most recent appearances at the Hero World Challenge (3rd/2024, 3rd/2023, 5th/2022, T5/2021, T5/2019).

22-year-old lefthander Akshay Bhatia (4th/-15) was 11-under on the par-5s for the week, tied with Patrick Cantlay for most in the field; finished best of the eight players making their first appearance at the Hero World Challenge; other players making their tournament debut: Ludvig Ã…berg (6th/-12), Robert MacIntyre (7th/-11), Sahith Theegala (8th/-10), Aaron Rai (T14/-4), Nick Dunlap (16th/-1), Matthieu Pavon (T17/E), Russell Henley (T19/+1).

Making his seventh appearance in the Hero World Challenge, but first since 2018, Keegan Bradley (5th/-14) carded a final-round 71; finished runner-up in 2012 at Sherwood Country Club with four rounds in the 60s and notched a T3 in 2014.
