But for the bogey on the 18th hole of the Evian Resort Golf Club, Tvesa Malik could have recorded her best finish on the Ladies European Tour till date. Par would have seen her settle at sole third on the third and final day of the Jabra Ladies Open. But that dropped shot decided it would be a T6 and a total of 1-under 212 (75, 67, 70).
Nevertheless, quite a few landmarks were lined up from the 25-year-old Gurgaon golfer. For the second week running, Tvesa finished top-10 and Saturday’s finish matched the T6 at the 2019 Hero Women’s Indian Open at the DLF Golf and Country Club. Last week, she had finished T10 at the Ladies Italian Open to match the Ladies Open de France finish last year.

At the start of the week, Tvesa said how the outing at the Evian Resort Golf Club would be a litmus test. The venue of the Evian Championship, one of the five Majors in women’s golf, it was Tvesa’s first time here and she knew patience was going to be one of her allies.
Faced with a narrow layout that has a generous sprinkling of bunkers and water bodies, the start was far from ideal with a 75 on Thursday. This is where focus, her second weapon, came into play. One shot at a time, she fought back on Friday with a fluent 67, and Saturday’s 70 was one more proof that criss-crossing Europe and playing different courses and conditions last season was bearing fruit this season.
