For the second time straight, the Indian women’s hockey team will appear at the Olympics. Rani Rampal, 26, captain of the team for the Tokyo Games, is from Haryana and wants to inspire girls across the country with her performance. She said that every girl should pick up a hockey stick or any kind of sport.
At 14, Rampal made her debut in the India team in 2009. “The nation’s people have faith in me that’s why I want to score more goals and bring a medal for India,” she said. After representing India in the Rio Olympics 2016, she was awarded the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna for helping the team qualify for the Olympics after 36 years.
