It was a second Ladies European Tour (LET) victory for the Spanish star, who won her first title four and a half years ago when she clinched the 2022 Communidad Madrid Ladies Open on home soil.

Peláez Treviño went into the final round on the World Cup Course at Mission Hills China in a share of 10th place.

However, a final round of 64 (-9 which included an ace on the par-3 13th hole ensured the 28-year-old lifted an LET trophy again.

“It’s been tough and right now it feels good. At one point, I thought I would never be in this position again. It’s hard to believe in yourself when you’re not feeling okay,” said the Spanish star.

“Coming back, playing golf and enjoying it is just a gift. If we can add on winning or top 10 then good, if not it’s okay. It’s for life itself. You might have good moments or moments that are uncomfortable, but you have got to keep going.

“It feels good [to win]. On paper, it says two wins, but I think the person who won four and a half years ago and the person who won today physically might look the same, but inside right now it’s just me being thankful for being out here playing golf and actually enjoying golf.

“Today was a great day and I was able to take the trophy home, but if I wouldn’t be here with the trophy, I would also be very grateful. That’s my takeaway from these past few years is the person I am now and how I am taking this in my heart.”

Peláez Treviño made her first birdie of the day on the second before adding further birdies on the fourth and sixth holes.

The Spaniard rolled in another birdie on 11 before a fantastic hole-in-one on the par-3 13th to move into the lead.

With her second title in her sights, Peláez Treviño kept her foot on the accelerator closing with three consecutive birdies to win by three strokes on 20-under-par.

She continued: “I’m feeling grateful today, it was a really fun day out there. It was a bonus to play with Casandra [Alexander] and Cara [Gainer], it was such a good vibe. Golf looked easy. That hole-in-one was a gamechanger, I had a lot of holes left. I told myself to just shoot one shot at a time and I was happy and grateful.

“I know deep in my heart that it was the most enjoyable round I have ever played, and I think it’s because hard work does pay off. I have been trying to win, but not needing to win as enjoying the game was the most important. Shooting nine under today and knowing I had pressure and how to deal with it and being present was for sure the most enjoyable round I’ve ever played on Tour.”

England’s Mimi Rhodes ended the week in second place on 17-under-par after a final round of 71 (-2) at Mission Hills China.

Five players shared third place with England’s Charlotte Heath and Spain’s Luna Sobron Galmes joined by Chinese trio Liqi Zeng, Shiyuan Zhou and Ruixin Liu.

2025 Aramco China Championship winner Liu produced a final round of 69 (-4) which included seven birdies.

“I loved it. The home crowd is amazing, they cheered me on every single hole. I felt very loved this week. With the shoulder injury, being able to finish like this I feel pretty positive,” said Liu.
