Davis Riley’s affinity for The Memorial on show again

Davis Riley is one of six players to hold multiple 18-hole leads/co-leads on PGA TOUR this season.

Davis Riley (1st/-5) has his third career 18-hole lead/co-lead on PGA TOUR, second at the Memorial Tournament (2022) and second this season (T19/Sanderson Farms Championship).

Was part of a six-way tie for the lead after the first round of the 2022 Memorial Tournament (finished T13).

Is one of two players to hold the 18-hole lead/co-lead at the same tournament in 2022 and 2023, along with Ben Martin (Corales Puntacana Championship).

Jordan Spieth (T3/-3) made his lone bogey of the day at his final hole (No. 18); there were no bogey-free rounds.

2020 Memorial Tournament champion and FedExCup leader Jon Rahm opened with a 2-under 70 and stands T10.

Sam Burns (T17) recorded eight birdies (most of any player in the field) en route to a 1-under 71.

Making his first start on TOUR since the 2022 Fortinet Championship, Brandt Snedeker (T48) carded a 1-over 73.

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler carded a 74, his sixth career first-round score of 74 or higher on TOUR and first since the 2021 Shriners Children’s Open.

Aldrich Potgieter (T59/+2), the lone amateur in the field, was the only player to make multiple eagles in the opening round (Nos. 7 and 11).

Defending champion Billy Horschel (118th/+12) recorded an 84, his third score of 84 or higher on the PGA TOUR and first since the 2016 Open Championship (85/R2).

Chad Ramey’s 16-over 88 is the highest score at the Memorial Tournament since Larry Mize carded an 88 in the second round in 2008; his 13 on No. 9 marks the highest score on that hole in tournament history (previous: 9, twice; most recent: Daniel Summerhays, 2018/R2).
