Genesis Invitational heralds Jon Rahm’s return as world No 1

Jon Rahm (Winner/-17) earned his 10th PGA TOUR title in 137th career start at the age of 28 years, 3 months, 9 days.

The FedExCup leader returned to No. 1 in the Official World Golf Ranking for the first time since March 26, 2022.

The Genesis Invitational is his third win in his last six starts on TOUR; first time in his career to earn three victories in one season.

He has five top-25 finishes in as many starts at The Genesis Invitational (T9/2019, T17/2020, T5/2021, T21/2022, Won/2023); improves to 4-for-9 when holding the 54-hole lead/co-lead on TOUR.

Third-consecutive (ninth overall) third-round leader/co-leader to win this season after Justin Rose, AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and Scottie Scheffler, WM Phoenix Open.

Becomes the 12th third-round leader/co-leader to win The Genesis Invitational since 2000 and the first player from Spain to win The Genesis Invitational (16th winner from outside the United States).

Becomes the fourth international player since 1960 to reach 10 TOUR wins before turning the age of 30.

In search of his seventh PGA TOUR title and fifth in his native state of California, 2021 Genesis Invitational winner Max Homa (2nd/-15) earned fourth consecutive top-10 at the event (T5/2020, Won/2021, T10/2022, 2nd/2023).

Patrick Cantlay (3rd/-14) posts his best finish in seven previous starts at The Genesis Invitational (previous: T4/2018) and earns his second top 10 in his fifth start this season (T2/Shriners Children’s Open).

Scottie Scheffler (T12/-8) fell to No. 2 in the Official World Golf Ranking and Rory McIlroy (T29/-4) to No. 3 following the week.

In first TOUR start since the 2022 Open Championship, 82-time PGA TOUR winner Tiger Woods finished T45 in his 15th start at The Genesis Invitational (best: 2nd/1998, T2/1999); has not finished in the top-10 on TOUR since the 2020 Farmers Insurance Open (T9).
