England’s Meghan MacLaren holds her position at top of the leaderboard at the end of a suspended second day of the Australian Women’s Classic – Bonville.
The 27-year-old held the overnight lead having shot an opening 67 (-5) and she picked up where she left off having rolled in three birdies on her opening nine holes on Day Two.

However, the weather came into play at Bonville Golf Resort with rain falling for much of the day and at 15.21 local time, with MacLaren on the 11th green, play was suspended.

“In those conditions, I think not dropping a shot is probably more important than picking up shots because it’s very easy to let a round get away from you when the weather is like that,” she said. “So that’s the thing I’m most satisfied with so far.
“It’s going to be an early start tomorrow and it could be a really long day, and nobody knows what the weather will do, so I’m just going to go and get as much rest as I can.
“I feel comfortable with where my game is, so I don’t have to and figure stuff out, so just rest and get ready.”
Spain’s Carmen Alonso is in second place on the leaderboard, one shot behind MacLaren, having rolled in six birdies and three bogeys in her second round.
The 37-year-old, who began on the ninth, still has two holes left to play tomorrow but sits on seven-under-par.
England’s Alice Hewson is in third place at the time of the suspension on four-under-par with no bogeys on her card and one birdie having completed 10 holes.
Amateur Sarah Hammett is in a share of fourth places alongside Sweden’s Maja Stark and Argentina’s Maggie Simmermacher.
The Australian had played 16 holes and was also bogey-free for the day rolling in birdies on the sixth, and 14th holes.

And it was a similar story for Stark and Simmermacher who also had no blemishes on their cards and had each made one birdie to be three-under-par.
Five players are tied for seventh on two-under including Alexandra Swayne of the US Virgin Islands, who finished her second round earlier in the day.
