Rising young American star Michael La Sasso will make his debut in the 10th anniversary edition of the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open at Mont Choisy Le Golf from 10-13 December 2026, joining fellow young guns Casey Jarvis and Jayden Schaper in a field set to showcase the best young talent in the global game.

The 22-year-old La Sasso made a dream professional debut this year when he became the youngest winner in LIV Golf history with his stunning victory in the Tour’s season finale – LIV Golf Indianapolis. The young star produced a second round of 60 and held off Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau and Sergio Garcia to claim his first professional title as a member of Phil Mickelson’s HyFlyers team.

And now he’s looking to bring that form to Mauritius.
“Winning early in my career gave me a lot of confidence, but I still feel like I’m just getting started. I want to keep winning, move up the world rankings and eventually compete for Major Championships. Mauritius is another opportunity to play a strong international field and hopefully put myself in contention again,” said La Sasso.
He’s also looking forward to experiencing the best the Sunshine Tour and DP World Tour has to offer.
“I’ve followed the Sunshine Tour and I know a lot of great players have come through there. It’s another opportunity to compete against strong fields, experience different courses and keep improving. At this point in my career, I want to play as much good golf against as many good players as I can.

“I’m getting more used to playing internationally, and it’s honestly been one of the coolest parts of turning pro. Playing different courses and styles of golf around the world has definitely improved my game and made me a more well-rounded player. I’ve never been to Mauritius, but from everything I’ve seen it looks unreal. I’m excited to get over there, experience it and hopefully play some great golf.”
La Sasso will seek to become only the second American winner of this Sunshine Tour and DP World Tour co-sanctioned tournament, following Kurt Kitayama in 2018.
World number 23 Ryan Gerard also came close when he lost in a playoff to South Africa’s Jayden Schaper in 2025.
