Schauffele stays firm on tumultous Day 2 at PGA Championship

Seven-time PGA TOUR winner and Olympic gold medalist in 2020, Xander Schauffele (1st/-12) seeks his first Major championship title at the PGA Championship in his 175th start on TOUR and 28th start in a Major championship.

Matches the lowest 36-hole score (in relation to par) at the PGA Championship: 12-under/Brooks Koepka/2019.

Holds the second-round lead/co-lead for the first time in a Major championship and the seventh time in individual stroke play events on TOUR, converting one of the previous six into victory (2022 Travelers Championship).

Also held the second-round lead/co-lead at the Olympics in Tokyo where he won the gold medal, and with teammate Patrick Cantlay en route to winning the 2022 Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

Owns top-20 finishes in his last eight Major championship starts, dating to the 2022 PGA Championship; best finish in the PGA Championship (T10/2020); best finish in any major (T2/2018 Open Championship, T2/2019 Masters Tournament).

Enters this week on a TOUR-leading streak of 46 consecutive made cuts.

At No. 3, one of five players among the top-10 of the Official World Golf Ranking who seek their first Major championship victory.

Sits second in the current FedExCup standings, 1,976 points behind leader Scottie Scheffler.

Collin Morikawa’s (-11) five consecutive birdies at Nos. 4-8 marks his longest birdie streak in a round at a Major championship (previous, 4/twice: R4/2019 U.S. Open, R2/2021 U.S. Open); T3 at the 2024 Masters Tournament is one of three top-10s this season (T5/The Sentry, 9th/RBC Heritage).
