Making their debut appearance as teammates at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, Rory McIlroy/Shane Lowry (1st/-25) defeated Chad Ramey and Martin Trainer with a par-5 (Foursomes) on the first playoff hole (No. 18).

The playoff was the fifth of the PGA TOUR season.

The playoff was the third (2017, 2021) at the Zurich Classic since the event moved to a team format in 2017.

With this victory, McIlroy earned his 25th PGA TOUR title and first since the 2023 Genesis Scottish Open; the victory comes in his 247th start at the age of 34 years, 11 months, 24 days.

Ties Tommy Armour, Johnny Miller and Macdonald Smith for 23rd on the all-time PGA TOUR wins list.

Has at least one win in each of his last seven PGA TOUR seasons.

The three-time FedExCup champion moves to No. 15 in the FedExCup standings.

Wins for the third time in a tournament debut (2010 Wells Fargo Championship, 2019 RBC Canadian Open, 2024 Zurich Classic of New Orleans).

Was making his ninth start, picks up his second top-10 finish of the season (Valero Texas Open/3rd)

With this victory, Lowry earned his third PGA TOUR victory in his 174th start at the age of 37 years, 26 days; victory comes 81 starts since his last win at the 2019 Open Championship.

TOUR wins (3): 2015 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, 2019 Open Championship, 2024 Zurich Classic of New Orleans; moves to No. 12 in the FedExCup standings.

Wins in his fifth start at the event (previous-best finish: 13th in 2022 with teammate Ian Poulter).

Has three top-10 finishes in nine starts this season: Zurich Classic of New Orleans (win), Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard (3rd), Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches (T4).

Ramey/Trainer (2nd/-25), tied the 18-hole scoring record in the Foursomes format with a 9-under 63.

Tied the 9-hole scoring record in the Foursomes format with a back-nine 6-under 30:
Cantlay/Schauffele (2023/R2).

Ramey, winner of the 2022 Corales Puntacana Championship, finished runner-up for the first time in 77 starts.

Trainer, winner of the 2019 Puerto Rico Open, finished runner-up for the first time in 137 starts.
