Stephan Jaeger has his first 36-hole lead on PGA Tour

Stephan Jaeger (1st/-12) of Germany finished birdie-eagle on the North Course en route an 8-under 64 at the Farmers Insurance Open after beginning on No. 10 to hold his first 36-hole lead/co-lead on PGA TOUR.

Owns four top-10 finishes while seeking first PGA TOUR win in his 129th start (T9/2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic, T9/2022 Texas Children’s Houston Open, 5th/2022 Rocket Mortgage Classic, T6/2022 Wells Fargo Championship).

In his fifth appearance, 64 marks his best second-round score at this event, bettering his opening-round 65 on the North Course in 2022 (MC/2018, T66/2019, MC/2022, T53/2023).

Since missing cut at the 2023 RBC Heritage, has made 20 cuts in 20 starts on TOUR, the fourth-longest active streak of consecutive cuts – Xander Schauffele (37), Viktor Hovland (28), Scottie Scheffler (27), Stephan Jaeger (20).

Owns six Korn Ferry Tour wins, including the 2016 Ellie Mae Classic at TPC Stonebrae where he shot an opening-round 58 en route to victory with a Tour-record 72-hole total of 250 (-30).

Making his 22nd start, but first start as a full member of the PGA TOUR, 22-year-old Dane Nicolai Højgaard (2nd/-11) fired a bogey-free 6-under 66 on the North Course.

He has two top-10 finishes on the PGA TOUR, but none in the United States (2nd/2023 Corales Puntacana Championship in the Dominican Republic, T6/2023 Genesis Scottish Open).

Earned his TOUR card via Special Temporary Membership/non-member FedExCup points and received exemptions into the 2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and The Genesis Invitational as the highest-ranked player, not otherwise exempt, from the final 2023 Race to Dubai Points List.

After seven birdies on the North Course in round one, Belgium’s Thomas Detry (T3/-10) made seven birdies on the South Course en route a 4-under 68; finished T37 in his one prior appearance at this event in 2023.

Matthieu Pavon (T3/-10) is making his third start this season (T7/Sony Open in Hawaii, T39/The American Express) and 11th overall on TOUR; earned his card for the 2024 season via the inaugural DP World Tour Top 10, which awarded TOUR cards to the top 10 players on the final 2023 Race to Dubai Points List.

In nine previous appearances at the Farmers Insurance Open, Tony Finau’s (T5/-9) only finish outside of the top-25 was a missed cut in 2022; 135 total tied his best 36-hole score at this event (2018, finished T6); T2 in 2021 is one of five top-10s.

Coming in off a T6 finish at last week’s American Express, 2018 John Deere Classic winner Michael Kim (T5/-9) is seeking his second PGA TOUR title in his 199th start; Kim made his first start as a professional at this event in 2014 (70-80/MC).

Aaron Rai (T7/-8) finished T6 in his tournament debut in 2022 and was co-leader after round one at this event last year before finishing 52nd.

Hideki Matsuyama (T10/-6) recorded his first hole-in-one on the PGA TOUR, holing an 8-iron at the 165-yard eighth hole on the South Course; last player from Japan to make an ace on TOUR was Ryo Ishikawa (2015 Quicken Loans National); owns two top-10 finishes in 10 previous tournament appearances (T3/2019, T9/2023).

First-round leader Kevin Yu (T23/-6) recorded a 2-over 74 on the South Course.

Defending champion Max Homa (T50/-4) posted consecutive rounds of 70.
