Subash Tamang stands out with pristine 66 at Bangladesh Amateur

Subash Tamang of Nepal lit up the Kurmitola Golf Club on Day 2 of the Orion 36th Bangladesh Amateur Championship with a 6-under 66 to zoom the chart in the individual category on Thursday.

Overnight level-par at the par-72 course, Subash has opened up a healthy six-shot lead over home boy Abu Bakar Siddik, who shot level-par for the successive day.

Overnight leader Shat Mishra of India had an off-day and the 74 saw him slip to third after opening with a 70. Aarav Shah, who too had shot a 70 on Wednesday, returned a similar card like Shat.

In the team event, courtesy Subash’s effort, Nepal moved atop the standings with a two-day total of 292. The other team member Sadbhav Acharya shot similar scores of 77.

Bangladesh ‘B’, comprising Shafiqul Islam (72, 73) and Liton Mondal (71, 78), are two shots back at 294. Bangladesh ‘A’ are five shot back at 297. The team has Shahabuddin (73, 75) and Md Sumon (77, 72).
