Cam Davis defeated Troy Merritt and Joaquin Niemann in a five-hole playoff at the Rocket Mortgage Classic to pick up his first PGA Tour victory and became the seventh first-time winner of the season.
Davis won the ninth playoff of the season and one week following Harris English’s win over Kramer Hickok in an eight-hole playoff at the Travelers Championship.
The last time the Tour had back-to-back playoffs was in 2020 at the Sentry Tournament of Champions (won by Justin Thomas) and Sony Open in Hawaii (won by Cameron Smith).
Sunday marked the first time with back-to-back playoffs of five holes or more on the PGA Tour.
Niemann became the first player without a bogey through 72 holes since Andrew Putnam at the 2021 Waste Management Phoenix Open.
Davis picked up his first Tour victory in his 71st start at the age of 26 years, 4 months, 13 days.

He collected 500 points and moved from No. 81 to No. 34 in the FedExCup standings.
Davis entered the final round trailing Troy Merritt and Joaquin Niemann by one stroke; and closed with a 5-under 67 to earn a spot in the playoff.
Recorded the eighth come-from-behind win in the last nine events on TOUR, with Phil Mickelson at the PGA Championship the only 54-hole leader/co-leader to go on to win during that stretch.
Davis won in his first playoff appearance on the PGA Tour and became the seventh first-time winner this season, joining Jason Kokrak, Carlos Ortiz, Joel Dahmen, Sam Burns, K.H. Lee, Garrick Higgo.
The Australian became the first international winner of the Rocket Mortgage Classic. His
previous-best finish on Tour was solo-third earlier this season at The American Express.
