Viktor Hovland (1st/-9) holds the 36-hole lead/co-lead in an individual stroke-play event for third time on PGA TOUR, and is 1-for-2 to date converting to victory (Won/2020 Puerto Rico Open, T2/2021 Farmers Insurance Open).

Carded a second-round 66, his lowest score in 14 rounds at the Arnold Palmer InvitationalĀ  (previous: 68/R2/2021).

Led the field in round two in Strokes Gained: Putting (5.234).

Recorded most birdies of any player through 36 holes (13).

Was T3 through 36 holes last year at this event, before shooting 11-over in the final two rounds to finish T49.

At 24 years, 5 months, 16 days on Sunday, Hovland would be become the fifth-youngest winner of the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

2020 Arnold Palmer Invitational champion Tyrrell Hatton (T2/-7) seeks to join the following players with multiple titles at the event: Tiger Woods (8), Jerry Heard (2), Gary Koch (2), Tom Kite (2), Loren Roberts (2), Ernie Els (2), Matt Every (2).

Highlighted by three birdies and an eagle at the par-5 16th, Talor Gooch (T2/-7) carded his only bogey on his final hole (No. 9); earned first TOUR title at The RSM Classic.

First-round leader Rory McIlroy (-7) fell to T2 following an even-par 72; 2018 Arnold Palmer Invitational champion has five consecutive event top-10s (longest active streak): T4/2017, Won/2018, T6/2019, T5/2020, T10/2021.

Making his 10th consecutive start at the event (best: T13/2017), Billy Horschel (5th/-6) followed a 5-under 67 in round one with a 1-under 71.

World No. 1 Jon Rahm (T13/-2) trails by seven at midway point; last World No. 1 to win the event was Tiger Woods (2009) and the last World No. 1 to win on the PGA TOUR was Dustin Johnson (2020 Masters Tournament).
