Xander Schauffele steps up as Major winner at PGA Championship

Xander Schauffele earned his eighth PGA TOUR title at the 106th PGA Championship in his 175th start at 30 years, 6 months, 24 days.

Wins first Major championship title in his 28th Major championship start and collects 750 FedExCup points to remain second in the FedExCup standings.

Began the week as the only player in the top five of the Official World Golf Ranking without a Major championship; moves from No. 3 to No. 2 with the win.

The 263 sets new PGA Championship 72-hole scoring record (previous: 264/Brooks Koepka/2018).

21-under is the lowest score in relation to par in major championship history (previous was 20-under, five times: Jason Day/2015 PGA Championship, Henrik Stenson/2016 Open Championship, Dustin Johnson/2020 Masters Tournament, Cameron Smith/2022 Open Championship, Bryson DeChambeau/2024 PGA Championship).

Schauffele’s previous best finish in the PGA Championship (T10/2020); previous best finish in any major (T2/2018 Open Championship, T2/2019 Masters Tournament).

Claims his first PGA TOUR title since winning in back-to-back starts in 2022 (Travelers Championship, Genesis Scottish Open); 679 days since last win.

Has 20 top-10s since the start of the 2022-23 season, the second-most of any player in that span (27, Scottie Scheffler).

Led the field in birdies (25) and Greens in Regulation (60 of 72).

Posted four rounds under-par at a Major championship for the first time in his career

2020 U.S. Open champion Bryson DeChambeau (2nd/-20) led the field in Driving Distance (330.5 yards); was seeking to become the 21st player to win the PGA Championship and the U.S. Open and first since Brooks Koepka in 2019.

Viktor Hovland (3rd/-18), who finished T2 in the 2023 PGA Championship, was attempting to become the first player since Jack Nicklaus (1975) to win the PGA Championship after a runner-up finish: posts four rounds under-par at a major championship for the first time in his career.

Thomas Detry (T4/-15) recorded his best finish in a Major championship (eighth appearance).
