Adhiraj Gill marks AEPTA Meerut as his terrain in IGU event

Adhiraj Gill will corner more glory as he steps into a critical phase of his career. Till that happens, Event 7 of the Indian Golf Union’s North Zone Feeder Tour, organised by Ace Golf, will stay etched as a career highlight.

Throwing in his hat in the Amateur category and ‘A’ Boys, Adhiraj found success on both fronts and marked the scenic yet challenging AEPTA Meerut as his territory.

Returning scores of 75 and 73 on this par-72 layout, Adhiraj’s two-day total of 148 gave him a three-shot win over Ajaypal Singh 151 (76, 75) and Ritik Madan (74, 77).

Adhiraj’s victory was even more emphatic in ‘A’ Boys as Aryan Singhal, who took the second spot with identical cards of 83, trailed by 18 shots at 166. Nigam Kumar was placed third at 171 (83, 88).

The degree of difficulty was on ample show as players struggled to put up low scores. Harry Singh showed why he was a cut about the rest with a 11-shot win in ‘B’ Boys, courtesy rounds of 82, 77 for a total of 159. Puranjy Rawal followed at 171 (89, 82), three shots ahead of Ayaan Goyal 174 (95, 79) and Ranbeer Singh Arora (81, 93).

‘B’ Girls was a closely contested group with little to separate Divija Bhushan Rao, Bhakti Mansukhani and Miraaya Sood. When it got over, the leaderboard read in the above order with Divija 172 (89, 83) nosing ahead of Bhakti 175 (86, 89) and Miraaya 176 (88, 88).

Shan Alvi 156 (81, 75) displayed the champion mindset that has brought him laurels to eke out a solitary shot win over Arush 157 (81, 76) in ‘C’ Boys. Yuvraj Yadav came next with a 161 (81, 80).

Padam Vibhuti (85, 85) did not face much resistance as she cantered to the top spot in ‘C” Girls with a 12-shot margin over Aaliyah Kalra 182 (90, 92). Sahaj Sharma followed with a 209.

Ojasv Saraswat did not open well with the 78, but the tournament’s only sub-par card of 71 on the final day lifted his profile and fortunes as the top name in ‘D’ Boys with an eight-shot cushion over Vedaansh Jain 157 (80, 77). Kabir Kanwar completed the podium with his effort of 165 (81, 84).

The competitive spirit in the juniors is infectious, and ‘D’ Girls was another category to witness a close contest. The protagonists were Aaradhya Rawat 155 (79, 76) and Unnati Singh a shot back at 156 (81,75). Aadya Kaushal finished third with 162 (83, 79).

There was little to separate Priyansh Jain (40, 38) and Gitansh Singh Pathania (38, 40) in ‘E’ Boys as both tied at 78, but the title went to the former after prevailing in the playoff. Aprateem followed with an 81 (41, 40).

Aadya Dayal 83 (45, 38), Mahira Sharma 92 (50, 42) and Hritika Bhatt (110) completed the leaderboard in ‘E’ Girls.

Amairaa Kaushal 94 (48, 46) worked up a handsome 10-shot win over Idah Prakash (104) in ‘F’ Girls, while Sanchita Singh Rathore shot a 109 to take third place.
