After making cut in a world-class field at the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship a month back in Dubai, Akshay notched another landmark on Friday by winning the Indian Golf Union’s Western India Amateur in Mumbai with a four-day score of 10-under 270 (68, 65, 67, 70).
This what the champ had to say. “This win for me has been long awaited ! Although I had finished 5th in the PGTI Bengaluru Open and represented my country in the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship, my first win on the IGU Amateur Circuit was eluding me. It finally happened this week on the same golf course (BPGC) where I played my first IGU event aged 15.”
