It’s been a while since Aman Raj put together two low rounds.
“Actually, yes,” he laughs. It isn’t as if Aman doesn’t have the wherewithal to shoot a 65, 66 to be where he is in the Players Championship, T3 and one off the lead at the Tollygunge Club.

He can and has done better in the past.
But the past year or so has been an aberration. The wrist injury, off and on starts, and going off the boil have all had an effect.

Chastened, the joy of teeing off in a pro event is cherished now more than ever, “after all this is why one chose golf”, and there is a change in the demeanour too.
Gone is the restlessness, and while Aman retains the youthful energy, there is a monk-like calm. A lot more relaxed, looking too deep into the future is not for him, and that reflects in his approach on the golf course as well — hole by hole, round by round.

If at all there is something he craves for, it is consistency in his scores. That should follow as the belief is “I’m back to playing the way I used”.
