However severe it may be on the players; this layout leaves a lasting impression in a way that an outing like this becomes a big part of the learning curve.
Event 5 of the Indian Golf Union’s North Zone Sub-Junior/Junior Feeder Tour, organised by Ace Golf, was one such week, and despite the relatively high scores, the players came away richer in experience.
After two days of competition, Vivaan Monga (80, 82) and Pawan Pratap Dhaniram (83, 79) can list the benefits after engaging in a pitched battle. There was little to choose between the two players as they tied at 162, but in the end, Vivaan took the top honours in ‘A’ Boys.
Ranjeet Mehto shot rounds of 83 and 86 to finish seven shots back of the duo at 169.
Parisa Monga made it a canter for herself in ‘A’ and ‘B’ Girls Combined as she returned cards of 81 and 80 to total 161, and post a nine-shot verdict over Divija Bhushan Rao 170 (80, 90). Aarohi Attri came in third at 172 (82, 90).
The challenges showed up across all categories, and Harry Singh coped to take the top spot in ‘B’ Boys with scores of 81 and 84 for a total of 165. There was a significant gap as Puranjy Rawal came in next at 172 with identical rounds of 86. Nakshatra Sharma finished four shots back at 176 (89, 87).
The prolific Shan Alvi picked one more trophy in ‘C’ Boys with an overwhelming result. Shooting level-par on Day 1, Shan had a 76 on Day 2 to tally 148, which was leap years ahead of Yuvraj Yadav 162 (81, 81). Viraj Sehgal completed the podium with a total of 163 (77, 86).
Abner Sengar, another familiar name on the circuit, made the top spot in ‘C’ Girls hers with a total of 170 (84, 86), which was five shots better than Padam Vibhuti (78, 97). Aaliyah Kalra finished at 188.

The boys in Category ‘D’ became the talking point of the week with their under-par show on Day 1. Leading the way was Vedaansh Jain, who posted a narrow win with a total of 136 (64, 72). Md Rehaan was two shots back at 138 (66, 72), and was followed by Avviraaj Kalia 141 (67, 74).
Unnati Singh impressed in ‘D’ Girls with rounds of 73, 76, which gave her an 11-shot win over Aaradhya Bhatnagar 160 (84, 76). With a two-day total of 169 (79, 90), Aadya Kaushal was third.
Playing 18 holes over two days in ‘E’ Boys, Gitansh Singh Pathania shot 2-over 38 on both days to finish at 76 for a three-shot win over the trio of Leyan Pal 79 (41, 38), Aprateem (39, 40) and Bhavy Rattan (38, 41).
Among girls, Dhriti Singh 78 (41, 37), Mahira Sharma 79 (40, 39) and Aadya Dayal 85 (43, 42) completed the top-three in this category.
Kabeer Khunga flew the lone flag in ‘F’ Boys and totalled 99 with rounds of 50 and 49.
Muskan Chaudhary 91 (46, 45), Kaira Khunga (114) and Idah Prakash (123) were the top names in ‘F’ Girls.
