Quite a few of the participants found that out this week over two days of Event 5 of the Indian Golf Union’s North Zone Amateur Feeder Tour, organised by Ace Golf.
While a lot of those hurt by Aravalli’s famed bite would have come away wiser and better prepared for next time, the podium finishers did not have to face that predicament.
In fact, Gurjeet Singh, the top name among the gentleman, got better as he soaked in the experience of playing a links style course.

Opening with a two-over 74, he shaved off two shots the next day for a level-par card to total two-over 144, and a three-shot verdict.

Avneet and Trish Kalkal, two of the three players to finish in a tie for second, went from over-par to under-par over 18 holes. Going neck and neck with identical cards, the duo shot 79 on Day 1, and surprised with a 70 to finish at 149.
Yash Suhag made up the triumvirate with rounds of 74 and 75.
For Gurbanie Singh, the journey from Florida to this part of the globe proved to be fruitful as she emerged the top name in women with a thumping win. Commencing the competition with a 77, she fared better on the final day with a 75 to come away with a final score of 152.
Laranya Rajkumari Das, the other competitor in this category, totalled 186.
