Abhijit Singh Chadha has written many chapters in his golfing career, and all of them are examples of nagging consistency since he made his pro debut on the Professional Golf Tour of India in 2012.

He was the country’s No 1 amateur, won the team silver at the 2010 Asian Games and almost won on his pro debut. The inevitable happened in his next start and he won the Surya Nepal Masters 2012 for the first of his two wins on Tour.
The BILT Open in 2015 carried more weight but the first ‘un is always sweeter. And yes, he did not miss cut once between March 2015 and December 2018 in home events.

Hear it from the strapping 29-year-old Chandigarh athlete as he talks about that momentous week of the Surya Nepal Masters in Kathmandu.
“It was my 2nd event on the @pgtitour, hence I had no expectations going into the week. After the practice round and given the conditions (the ball was flying further), it suited my playing style. Going into the final round, I was nervous as the leader group had Vijay Kumar who is a golfing legend in his own right. I told myself to keep the ball in play, and I did just that the whole day. The putter got hot at the right time on the back nine as I birdied the par-3 10th, hitting it to about 20 feet and making the putt. For me, that was the tournament-winning putt. My confidence skyrocketed and that was where I had won the event in the head. I was on autopilot from there on.”
This season too has not been different from the past. Abhijit has two top-10s at the Players Championship on his home course, Chandigarh Golf Club, and the Gujarat Open at Kalhaar Blues and Greens just before Lockdown 2. The restart is eagerly awaited as he will be striving to break the title drought since 2015 and of course, live up to the billing of ‘Mr Consistent’.
