Pushing and learning from each other, Yashas and Aalaap’s golfing journey

Growing up in Mysore, Yashas Chandra and Aalaap IL may not have had the best of practice facilities at the Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Golf Club, but they made up for it by availing of the resources at their disposal. One was looking up to and imbibing the lessons from Rahul Ganapathy, a three-tine winner on the Professional Golf Tour of India.

Outside that sphere of influence, the two were always pushing each other and over the years have learnt from the countless practice rounds at the venue that’s like a second home to them. Their routes to professional golf may have been different but Yashas and Aalaap are now among the players to watch out for on India’s pro circuit.

From buddies, they are now roomies on tour, and that’s not all, there is another factor that binds them — cricket. Whenever time permits or when the hitting goes awry on the golf course, a game of cricket is a blessed release.
