The admission that he was nowhere close to his fluent best at the range or in the comeback event at Hyderabad made the going tougher. It was natural to be gripped by frustration but having companion Ruhi Akram on the bag has been a huge plus.

Coming in without the baggage that comes with playing the sport, Ruhi has been a calming influence. A template has taken shape where on-course conversations ooze positivity and steer clear of what’s transpiring on the day.

The effects have been amazing as since the shaky start in Hyderabad, Rahil has secured his card comfortably in seven starts, which include four top-10s.

He has a chance to sign off on a high, and is hoping that solid golf and Ruhi’s reassurance will be the potion for success at the Tour Championship in Jamshedpur.
