Despite a decent run in 2022, which contained three top-10s, Sachin missed regular caddie Mahesh due to the latter’s commitments elsewhere. The two go back in time from the days at Faridabad’s Aravalli Golf Course, where Sachin practiced before shifting to the Delhi Golf Club.

In fact, Mahesh played a key role when Sachin qualified on Tour in 2016.
Among the things on Sachin’s to-do list before this season started was to reengage Mahesh, and the chemistry showed in the near-seamless run on Day 1.

“Choosing the right club, reading the line and wind, or what’s going through my mind, Mahesh knows it all, and that is huge boon,” said Sachin, explaining the 6-under 70 and his one-shot lead on Tuesday.
