Like the drop in form since the start of 2022, Shivendra Singh Sisodia is yet to place a finger on the reasons for fatigue and drop in concentration on the golf course.
COVID was ruled out but given the anxiety to start the season on a strong note, Shivendra focused on practice rather than health.

It did not help as scores started to climb, and he teed off at the season-opening Gujarat Open shooting over-par outside tournaments. It was a far cry from the low scores on his home club, Golden Greens, or in the vicinity, at practice.

The result was foregone, and soon the poor showings began to take a toll.
January and February went this way, complaining to coach, Pritam Saikia, I am not playing well.” Some hope was raised at the Players Championship in Tollygunge Club but the Round 3 horrors set him back again.
All he had in this phase were the coach’s words, “Keep faith and manage your game,” and the memories from the 4 top-10s last season. Atop that list was his best finish on Tour so far, the T2 at the Delhi-NCR Open on his home course a little over a year back.

Given the way things have been, Shivendra teed off at the Players Championship in Chandigarh with a prayer on the lips, but buoyed by the final round of the Asian Development Tour’s (ADT) Gurugram Challenge.
Stemming the slide is essential, and the start this week holds out hope. Coming away from the ADT week confident of how the driver and wedges are responding, Shivendra is hoping the trend continues at the Chandigarh Golf Club, finishing Day 1 two off the lead at 4-under 68.
