Varun Chopra calls it the “5-Second Rule” that came to his rescue at the start of the Players Championship.

Opening with a double bogey is never desirable, but Varun paused to bring in a tactic that has worked for him over time.

After that opening blip, Varun took those couple of seconds to decide that ruminating on what had happened was of no use. Rather, looking ahead without letting the head drop was the road ahead.

It worked well, as not only did he recover, Varun settled for a share of the lead on Day 1.
