For Yuvrajbir Singh, the occasion to conquer uncertainty was the final day of Event 4 of the Indian Golf Union’s North Zone Amateur Feeder Tour, organsied by Ace Golf.
The Border Security Force’s Chhawla course is unsung yet hugely challenging, and in this setting Yuvrajbir spun a tale he will be immensely proud of for time to come.
The opening to the week was just the platform Yuvrajbir needed as he opened with a 4-under 67 at the par-71 facility among the gentlemen. The lead was his as the competition trailed by a distance.
With just 36 holes making a week of competition, all it required was steady play from Yuvrajbir. But the uncertainties of golf kicked in, and in the face of Avneet Singh’s final-day charge, it required a lot out of Yuvrajbir as he seemed to succumb to pressure.
He finished with a 75, and while the margin of victory between him and Avneet, who shot a 70 on the back of a 73, was slim, just a shot, the impact of this result on Yuvrajbir’s confidence will be huge.

The ability to stay steady and not allow further damage to an already bogey-dominated scorecard will help as he looks to build on the gains in the season ahead.
It was steady play from Avneet, but this wasn’t his week. Aaryaveer Khoda 145 (69, 76) finished third and ensured it was a close contest in this category.

Among ladies, Gauri Joshi bagged the top spot with rounds of 78 and 79 to total 157. There was a yawning gap between her and Rabish Goyal, who shot 93 and 91 for a final score of 184. Vanshika Rao followed with a total of 221.

There was an element of novelty this time, and in the newly-created category for club members, Pushpendra Rathore emerged the top name.
