After successfully conducting tournaments in other parts of the country, the Indian Golf Union pitched tent in Kolkata’s Tollygunge Club for the Eastern India Ladies & Junior Girls Golf Championship.
Notable names at the October 25-28 event were Sneha Singh, who won on the WGAI at Noida Golf Club last month, and Avani Prashanth, coming on the back of a win on the ladies pro tour in Panchkula last week. Smriti Bhargav arrived here after a runner-up finish in the last event, IGU North-East India Ladies & Junior Girls Golf Championship.
Conducted over three days, apart from the practice round, competition was across four categories — Ladies, A, B and C.

In Category A, it was a close affair between Avani and Kriti Chowhan with only a stroke separating Avani (217) from Kriti.
Smriti won the Ladies category with a score of 222, followed by Heena Kang at 229.
Mannat Brar won in Category B with an overall score of 215. Anvvi Dahhiya was runner-up with 224.
Prarthana Khanna won Category C with 229, followed by Dia Cris Kumar at 239.
Mannat took the top spot again in the A&B combined category, followed by Avani.
