Aryan Roopa Anand pulled off the day's biggest upset at the IGU Eastern India Amateur Championship in Kolkata on Thursday.

The third day of the IGU Eastern India Amateur Golf Championship, which marked the start of the match-play segment, lived up to the ups and downs of the first two rounds with order of merit leader Rohan Dhole Patil crashing out in a one-sided encounter against Aryan Roopa Anand.

In the battle of titans, the 32nd seed Aryan beat top seed Rohan 5&4. It was then time for two of the finest juniors of the country to lock horns, and Shaurya Binu got the better of Arjun Singh Bhatia as the latter was four down with two holes to go.

Arjun Bhati beat Anant Singh Ahlawat with Arjun being five up with four holes remaining. After the pre-quarters matchups, only two players from Bengal remain in the fray, Arjun Puri and Gurshaan Grewal.

In the quarter-finals, all eyes will be on Aryan as he faces Shourya in an epic encounter.

Kolkata’s Gurshaan Grewal will take on Harsh Gangwar. Arjun Puri will try his luck against Rajesh Kumar Gautam.
