Aimed at broad-basing the sport with juniors, amateurs and parents as the target audience, the two-day exercise drew a favourable response from the participants with over 50 eager learners turning up for the course conducted at Jaypee Wish Town in Noida on September 7, and Chandigarh Golf Association on September 8.
Golf courses are normally bustling during the weekends, but credit goes to the management of the two venues for keeping aside time and space for the beginners’ course.
Getting into the details of the course, which proved immensely beneficial for those keen to gain knowledge on the rules of golf, the day was divided into two parts with instructions preceding the live demonstration.
No aspect was left untouched as all the rules were discussed followed by physical demonstration of rulings on the course.
The areas covered included the teeing area, out of bounds, penalty area, bunkers, greens and general area.
The participants went back a lot wiser as the seminar was conducted by senior rules officials Chandrashekhar Kini and Siddhant Jain, who shared their wealth of experience.
The students included those who came on board for a better understanding of the rules of golf and others keen to make a career in the sport.
Those aspiring to make a name as rules officials need to go through the grind and Level 1 is the first stage of a demanding journey.
