Pristine greens of Delhi Golf Club witness keen tussles in NCR Cup

Any junior tournament at the Delhi Golf Club (DGC) evokes overwhelming response, and it was no different on Friday at the NCR Cup, the Delhi Golf Society’s 3rd junior tournament. For many of those competing in Categories A and B, it was a dream come true to tee off at the Lodhi Course, the venue of many pitched battles during the Hero Indian Open and other Asian and European Tour events.

Competition among the big boys was a keen one with Krishnav Chopra emerging top with a score of 2-over 74. A shot back in Category A was Vedant Sirohi while Rohan Galhotra and Arin Ahuja carded an identical 77. Among girls in the section, Sharanya Sah, Heena Kang and Ragini Navet/Mahima Aggarwal followed in this order with scores of 82, 83 and 84 respectively.

Category ‘B’ boys was hotly contested as well. Pritish Singh Karayat bagged top honours after beating Hiransh Singh on the second playoff hole after both had carded 80. Rakshit Dahiya and Shubham Kumar tied for third with a score of 82. In girls, Prarthna Khanna was the winner with a score of 78. She was followed by Keya Bagudu (81) and Zara Anand (84).

The 9-hole par-62 Peacock Course was the scene of action for Categories ‘C’ and ‘D’. Ranveer Mitroo was the top name in ‘C’ boys with a score of 132 (65, 67), followed by Trish Kalkal 140 (68, 72) and Ayaan Dubey 141 (72, 69). In girls, Ayesha Gupta won by a distance with a cumulative score of 135 (64, 71) over Rhea Kumar 143 (71, 72) and Gauri Joshi 149 (72, 77).

The prolific Chaitanya Pandey carded 61 and 62 to top with 123 in Category ‘D’ boys. Trailing him were Kaairav Singh 136 (65, 71) and Arihaan Beri 139 (74, 65). Anushka Gupta was the best player among girls with 140 (71, 69). Shiksha Jain 149 (75, 74) and Dalisha Chettry 155 (76, 79) followed in that order.
