Pulsating action at Ace Golf’s Ireland qualifier

Vinamra Anand shot the only sub-par round at Ace Golf’s Official Qualifying Event of the Flogas Champion of Champions Ireland 2022 at the par 67 Jaypee Wish Town in Noida on Thursday. Anand, who practices at the Noida Golf Club carded a 64, six birdies and three bogeys, to emerge as the best scorer on a day that witnessed energy-sapping humidity.

Sukhman Singh (67) and Arin Ahuja (68) followed Anand in Category A. Barring the amateur category, all the first-placed names qualified for the Ireland event , which is scheduled to be held middle of next year depending on the COVID situation worldwide.

Among the big boys and girls, Aditya Punia (67) notched his first amateur win outside Jaipur’s Rambagh Golf Club. He was followed by Mudit Rana (68) and Sachin Chauhan on identical scores. Riya Yadav, who practices at the DLF Golf and Country Club, finished atop amateur girls with a 74. Tanisha Kalyan (75) and Nandita Kumar (78) followed in that order.

The burly Manraj Deol, who practices with Gaganjeet Bhullar at the Rail Coach Factory whenever the European Tour player is in Kapurthala, shot a one-over 68 to top Category B and was followed by Gurvnavjit Singh Bhatia and Ikvir Bhasin at 73.

It was another first prize to Ranveer Mitroo’s already humongous collection of trophies as he shot 69 to take the first place in Category C. A shot adrift was Udai Aditya Middha and trailing Udai by two shots was Arshvant Srivastav. The chirpy Parnika Sharma shot an 80 to win among ‘C’ girls. Rhea Kumar (85) and Laranya Das (95) were second and third.

The most exciting part of the action was in Category D boys and girls as Aditya Mishra and Shambhavi Chaturvedi won in playoffs. Aditya tied with Aney Shankar at 75 while Shambhavi and Naina Kapoor had identical scores of 77.

Among the babies of the group, Avviraj Kalia was the winner with a card of 41 in Category E.
