Trans Yamuna Cricket Association celebrated the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence by honouring a bunch of promising cricketers from the National Capital. The TYCA has been working for promotion of cricket in the Trans Yamuna area – East Delhi.
Delhi cricketers Gagan Vats, Shubham Sharma, Rahul Chaudhari, Aryan Chaudhari and Hrithik Kanaujiya were presented with awards and citations to mark the occasion. The Delhi and District Cricket Association president, Rohan Jaitley, the chief guest, presented prizes to the distinguished cricketers.
DDCA treasure Pawan Gulati was the Guest of Honour at the event, which was also graced by dignitaries like Member of the Delhi Assembly OP Sharma and Justice Sirohi as special guests.
TYCA also recognised services of eminent umpires from East Delhi, including International Cricket Council-recognised umpire Anil Chaudhary and former international umpire SK Bansal, who had officiating in the historic Kolkata Test when Harbhajan Singh compiled a hat-trick against Australia.
Rohan Jaitley, while lauding the TYCA for contributing to the sport, congratulated the association for celebrating Azadi Ka Amrit Mahaotsav. Jaitley also asserted that players will only be picked on merit to represent Delhi in various national events. Players who have done well doing under 16, under 19 tournaments and in Senior Challenger Trophy will be get their due on merit.
Trans Yamuna Cricket Association secretary Naresh Sharma shared that they TYCA will soon organise a State level cricket tournament for senior players.
