Manchester United is the most valuable club in the English Premier League, accounting for almost 20% of the aggregate worth of the 20 clubs in the elite competition. The Old Trafford-based club is valued at $ 4.65 billion in a study by Sportico, the sports business web portal.
The study has valued average net worth of the Premier League teams at $1.29bn. The 20-team competition finds an aggregate worth of $25 bn with Man U being the most valuable team of the tournament.
The average value of each of the top six clubs is almost similar to the cumulative worth of the remaining 16, reveals the study. Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur put together will have an average worth of around $3.675 billion. The aggregate value of the other 14 comes to $3.7 bn.
The average value of a Premier League teams now stands at US$1.29 billion, according to Sportico, which estimates that the 20 clubs in English football’s top flight are collectively worth more than US$25 billion.
Manchester United are followed by Liverpool ($4.14 bn) and the newly-crowned Manchester City ($4 bn) in Sportico’s 2021 Premier League valuations list. Chelsea ($3.35 b) and Arsenal ($3.06 bn) complete the top-five table.
The gap between the top six and the remaining clubs is so big that Everton in the seventh position was valued only at $525mn, whereas Tottenham Hotspur a rank above are at $ $2.3 bn.
