Lionel Messi can complete his entire pro career with Barcelona following a new five-year deal.

Lionel Messi is staying at Barcelona. A five-year deal has reportedly been done on up to a 50% salary cut, suggest multiple reports.

The deal is expected to be announced on Thursday or Friday.

There revised contract also includes a termination clause set at €600 million. La Liga president Javier Tebas is stated to be happy after going through the deal. Another report suggest the release clause is agreed at € 350 mn.

Messi has taken the pay cut to set an example as the captain when the club is going through financial crisis.

The Argentine Euro 2020 winning captain has earned € 550 million during his last five years at Camp Nou. That amounts to € 75 million each season.

Premier League club Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan were keen to engage the star striker after his contract with Barca had expired.

The revised five-year deal means that Messi is unlikely to play for any other club if the contract is completed. He will be 39 years old when the term will be over in 2026.

This will be a rare feat for a player to complete his entire career at one club. He has been with the Catalan side ever since his first signing in 2004 as a 17-year-old.
