Casandra Alexander is excited to get going at the 2026 Amundi Evian Championship having put in a solid performance during last year’s edition.

The South African produced rounds of 67-68-69-73 to end the week in outright 20th place but had spent the majority of the week in the top 10.
Alexander, who has one Ladies European Tour (LET) title to her name, has focused a lot of her time on the Majors in 2026 having played the US Women’s Open and KPMG Women’s PGA Championship in June.

However, she’s excited to be back in Europe and is looking forward to getting her challenge underway in the fourth Major of the year on Thursday.
“I remember that I played quite nicely,” she said. “It’s good to be back in Europe because it’s a little bit like a second home. There are a few changes to the course, but all good memories. I had a bit of a tough last day last year, so if we can tidy that up, we can do one again and yeah, see what the week goes.
“Going over the pond is hectic. Flying here felt so short compared to usual because it was like halfway compared to what I was doing. I tried getting an invite into one of the events in the middle of the two majors in the US, but unfortunately, I didn’t.

“My game has actually been good. The Majors test every part of it, so if something is just a little bit off it, it comes through. I struggled a little bit at KPMG. It wasn’t anything majorly wrong with the golf, it was just it didn’t come together, which is fine.
“Then at the US Women’s Open, I played nicely. With all the major in this stretch, it’s quite hectic. I’m feeling ready for this next run. We have got quite a nice run with Scottish and AIGWO and this event. I’m looking forward to that and then looking forward to some time off after that.”
A field of 132 players are teeing it up in the 2026 Amundi Evian Championship, which has a purse of $9.1 million USD.
Alexander is leading the charge of LET players this week, as she is number one on the Order of Merit thanks to her eight top-10 finishes in 2026 including five runner-up results.
The LET winner, who is number 33 in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings, knows Evian Resort well having played here in the Jabra Ladies Open on the LET, as well as in the Amundi Evian Championship.

With warm temperatures expected this week, Alexander has been making sure to save energy so that she can peak for the tournament which takes place from July 9-12.
She explained: “We’ve been here thousands of times, so we know the golf course and need to play it a lot less. The US Women’s Open, you want to try and play each nine twice at least to prepare for it.
“This week has been shorter, less preparation but I feel just as ready. You’ve got to save the energy, it’s a long walk in the heat and it’s going to get hotter throughout the week. It’s building momentum unto the weekend instead of hitting a bit of a low.”
