Since December last, Yuvraj Singh Sandhu was on a quest; an attempt to rediscover the state of mind and body — after all, golf is about how a player responds under pressure, that saw him win an unprecedented 5 times on the Professional Golf Tour of India.

The bar had been set exceptionally high and tough to replicate, but that is what sets athletes apart. The joy of achieving the near impossible regularly is what drives them.

This was about 2022, heady and impressive, and 2023 held out a lot of hope. Sport can be fickle, and the quiet start to the season had Yuvraj disappointed but not disheartened. Troughs, more than crests, define a journey, and also strengthen resolve, just like it did to Yuvraj’s grit.

It was patience and hard work leading to the bumper win at the BNI Ciputra Golfpreneur Tournament, the omens showing up with the T8 the previous week on the Asian Development Tour (ADT).

A win in the bag again, Yuvraj is telling himself that it is upwards from here on.
