The Indian Golf Union’s North Zone Amateur and Sub-Junior/Junior Feeder Tour, organised by Ace Golf, came calling this week with the season’s 10th event, and the feedback was unanimous across all age categories that it was a big part of the learning curve.
Known for its thick rough and tight fairways, shooting under-par is proof of skill, and Avneet displayed remarkable resilience to bounce back from a not-so good start of 5-over 77 to take the top spot in Amateur Boys with a 4-under 68 and finish with a total of 1-over 145.
There was a tie for second at 2-over 146 between Mayank Oberoi (74, 72), Harsh Singh (72, 74) and Chaitanya Pandey (71, 75), but Mayank nudged ahead on account of a better Day 2 card.
With identical rounds of 78 for a total of 156, Vivaan Monga ran away an easy winner in A Boys. Trailing by eight shots, Ishaan Sawhney (83, 81) was next, and led by two shots over the duo of Ranjeet Mehto (82, 84) and Adishwar Chahal (77, 89). Finishing at an identical 166, Mehto was the better name for his final day score.
Henaaz Khera had an easy run in A and B Girls Combined by putting together rounds of 76, 73 to total 149 for a seven-shot win over Navya Chaudhary 156 (75, 81). Anushka Singh Malik completed the podium with an effort of 169 (84, 85).
It was a tight contest in B Boys, and Rao Vardhan 155 (80, 75) pipped Sakshity Pureandre 156 (75, 81) by a shot. Ayan Khan, a product of the Delhi Golf Club, finished third at 162 (79, 83).
C Boys was another category where no inch was yielded, and Udayveer Singh Gill rode his Day 2 card to win by two shots at 163 (82, 81) over Medhansh Singh Bisht 165 (79, 86). Two shots further back lay Saurav Rawat at 167 (80, 87).

Deepika Tomar registered the biggest win of the competition, posting rounds of 84, 87 to total 171 for a whopping 16-shot win in C Girls over Stuti Pankaj 187 (92, 95) and Vedika Loyalka (224) finished third.
Shan Alvi (139), Samar Baijal (141) and Avviraaj Kalia (143) are regular faces in D Boys, and the final lineup on the podium was in this order as well.
Among girls in this section, Aaliyah Kalra beat her competition convincingly by totalling 159 (82, 77) to triumph over Aarushi Sharma 167 (83, 84) and Aaradhya Bhatnagar (185).

The tiny tots showed a lot of spirit to notch some impressive scores. In E and F Boys Combined, Taanush Kumar 72 (37, 35) won handsomely over Gitansh Singh Pathania 80 (39, 41) and Tansh Bansal 85 (41, 44).
At 82 (38, 44), Dhriti Singh was the top name in E and F Girls Combined, and was followed by Naaysha Sinha 91 (42, 49) and Anveshikha (128).
